Driving School FAQ
Are SUVs or SAVs permitted? PDF Print E-mail

BMW and Porsche SUVs and SAVs are permitted.  Trucks and all other SUVs and SAVs are not permitted.

Are you going to feed me? PDF Print E-mail

Actually, yes.  We provide a catered lunch each day, and a social after the last session of the first day (a BBQ at the track in summer, a social in the evening for the winter school).  There will also be plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available all day to ensure adequate hydration is maintained.  If you have any dietary restrictions, please advise us in advance.

What type of clothing should I wear? PDF Print E-mail

Suitable clothing for driving includes long-sleeved shirts, long pants and smooth-soles shoes.  Clothing should be comfortable without restricting movement. Natural fibers (i.e. cotton) are preferred.

Driving suits (racing suits) are neither necessary nor permitted, however, regular driving gloves are a good idea as they help if your steering wheel is slippery or your hands are damp.

Dress appropriately for the weather.  Students WILL spend time outside their vehicles and need to be prepared. It is important that outdoor clothing not restrict movement when driving, or alternately that restrictive clothing can be easily removed and stowed as you move in and out of your vehicle. This is especially important for the winter school as there is NO INDOOR SHELTER at the lake.

Can I share a vehicle with someone else? PDF Print E-mail

Yes, and there is a discounted rate for the second driver. Please make sure you mention it on both drivers' registration forms so we can minimize the logistics issues involved.

Why do I have to have my car inspected? PDF Print E-mail

BMWCC Advanced Driving Schools are designed to explore the limits of you and your vehicle, placing you car under greater stress than is typical under normal driving conditions.  You should expect accelerated brake and tire wear.  In addition, the heat and stress of driving on the track can be expected to accelerate the failure of any marginal part or system, potentially jeopardizing your safety and the safety of others on the track.

In the interest of the safety of all participants, we require that a licensed mechanic verify each vehicle is in suitable mechanical condition. Excepting winter school participants (see below), if you show up at the school without a completed mechanical inspection form, you will be turned away without a refund. »mechanical inspection form

Due to lower expected speeds, winter school participants are exempted from the requirement for a mechanical inspection.

For new vehicles (defined as vehicles with less than 5000 km at commencement of the school AND a build date less than 6 months prior to the date of the school), the student can do a self-declaration using the »mechanical inspection form
